Prologue
IN SPRING, LOOKING UP TO THOSE BETTER THAN US
                Head

”It has been so for a long time: the hearty and proud ones quickly and easily lose their bread and freedom, their possessions and life, but those who bend their heads and submit to fear lose so much of themselves, the fear eats them so much, that their life is not worth a thing.”
These words of wise Ivo Andrić sound as a warning especially in this era of colonial democracy and smiling totalitarianism, in ”this area” of miserable protectorates, where the main political postulate is to heartily and proudly bend your head. Those who skipped some important classes in school call it the synthesis and ”third path”. Thus the dangerous shadow of farce and schizophrenia hangs over us. The drama of rigged games.
Luckily, spring has arrived. A true relief for people tortured by the long winter and vulgar election campaign. Even the new drastic increase of allergies (seems that the owner of chemtrails is merry again) couldn’t overcloud the beneficial effect of spring. Looking for a safe orientation, we are still trying not to lose numerous lighthouses of our ancestors from sight. If something can give us strength to endure, it’s their examples in times not easier than this one. 2017 will mark 640 years since the birth and 590 years since the death of Despot Stefan Lazarević. Two hundred and thirty years since the birth of Vuk Karadžić, 140 years since the birth of Isidora Sekulić, 95 years since the birth of Vasko Popa, Dejan Medaković, Borislav Mihailović Mihiz. Two hundred years since the death of Karađorđe, 90 years since the passing away of Bora Stanković, 40 since the departure of Miloš Crnjanski. (…) If we remember them properly, we might remember ourselves as well.
And don’t salute anyone’s victory before you’re certain it’s not your defeat.
